Latin America's Moment in the New Geoeconomics Landscape

Date Aired: Wednesday, September 2, 2026

Latin America’s place in the global economy may be shifting.

A more multipolar world, rising conflict elsewhere, technological and trade shifts, and renewed US focus on the region, including Venezuela and Cuba, are creating a new geoeconomic landscape.

Latin America may be particularly well positioned to navigate it, building on its relative interstate peace, natural resource abundance (across critical minerals, fossil fuels to clean energy, and food security), macroeconomic stability, and growing political alignment with the US.

Bloomberg experts examine whether these forces could create a new investment story for Latin America and the risks and challenges that could stand in the way.

In this briefing, attendees will gain a forward view of:

  • The geoeconomic impact of the Trump Administration’s Donroe Doctrine and renewed focus on the Western hemisphere
  • Opportunities and challenges to Latin America emerging as a safe haven
  • Scenarios for Latin America’s hotspots: Cuba and Venezuela
  • Macroeconomic assets and challenges in a resource-rich region
  • Changes in Latin America's energy market outlook
